Description
Joan of Arc, a national heroine in French history, was known as the "Maid of Orleans". She was born in the French countryside in 1412, and at the age of 15, she claimed to have heard a revelation from the saints that guided her to save France. At the time, France was in the midst of the Hundred Years' War between England and France, and was in a precarious situation. Jeanne bravely asks Charles VII, the crown prince of France, for help, and despite initial skepticism, her faith and determination win her over. With armor and flag in hand, she led the French army to defeat the English at the Battle of Orléans in 1429, rescuing the besieged city and escorting Charles VII to his coronation in Reims. However, Jeanne's fate took a tragic turn when she was captured by the Burgundians in 1430 and sold to England. The following year, she was accused of heresy and witchcraft in a religious trial filled with political intrigue, and was eventually sentenced to death by fire in Rouen at the age of 19. Jeanne's courage and piety were widely recognized after her death. Her story has inspired countless descendants, and in 1920 she was officially canonized as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. Joan of Arc symbolizes the strength of faith, the independence of nations and the resilience of women.
