Description
Joan of Arc, France’s iconic national heroine, is often called the “Maid of Orleans.” Born in rural France in 1412, she claimed at age 15 to have received divine guidance, compelling her to save her nation. At that time, France was entangled in the Hundred Years’ War, its fate hanging by a thread. Joan bravely approached Charles VII, the future king of France, seeking a leadership role. Despite initial doubts, her unwavering faith and relentless determination won the prince’s trust. Wearing armor and carrying a flag, she led the French troops to a crucial victory over the English at the Battle of Orléans in 1429, liberating the city and safely escorting Charles VII to his coronation in Reims. Sadly, Joan’s journey ended in tragedy. In 1430, she was captured by the Burgundians and sold to the English. The next year, after a politically motivated religious trial, she was found guilty of heresy and witchcraft, and was executed by burning in Rouen at the age of just 19. Joan’s valor and devotion were honored after her death. Her story inspires generations, and in 1920, she was officially canonized as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. Joan of Arc is a lasting symbol of faith, national independence, and the unwavering strength of women.
Notes
- cavalry with an ok damage buff - Low duration that requires her to hit enemies to activate - Benefit of affecting many allies (heroes and soldiers) in a large range
